Credits
What spends credits in AI Studio, where to see your balance and spending, and how credit alerts, limits and auto-recharge work.
Credits are the currency of AI Studio. Running an agent or workflow, answering a chatbot message and indexing a document each take credits from your balance. When the balance reaches zero, the workspace becomes read-only until you add more.
What spends credits#
Every charge is recorded as a transaction with a type. The ones you will meet most in AI Studio:
- Agent Execution for running an agent or workflow.
- ChatBot Message for each message sent through a chatbot.
- Index URL, Index Document and Index Youtube for adding knowledge.
- Tool and step charges, such as Google Search, Screenshot, Image Generation, Slack Send Message or MCP Response.
- Add Credit, which is the only transaction that adds to your balance.
Calls to the language model are charged by usage. In History, each session shows its credits split into what the model used and what tools and steps used, so you can see which part of an agent is expensive.
Creating things (a new agent, chatbot or document) also needs a positive balance. Deleting and pausing do not, so you can always scale down.
Credits belong to the workspace owner. If ownership is transferred, the new owner’s credits pay for the workspace from then on.
See your balance#
The bottom of the left sidebar shows N credits left. The owner can also open Subscription from the account menu to see Credits remaining, Current Period End and when the plan Renews.
See what was spent#
Open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar. Two pages show your spending:
- Transactions lists every charge with its type, context, date and amount. Filter by Transaction Type, Agent or workflow or date, or export to CSV.
- Costs Reporting charts the same data. Use Group By to pick Date, Week or Month, and switch between Total cost (cost by transaction type) and By Flow (share of cost by flow).
Owner, Admin, Editor and Member can open both pages. Guest and Maintainer cannot.
Add credits#
Only the workspace owner sees Subscription. Your plan includes a monthly amount of credits. If you run out before the next billing period, the page offers Out of Credits? with one-off credit packs, or you can choose a bigger plan. See plans and limits. Prices are on flowhunt.io/pricing.
Credit alerts#
Go to Settings → Credits. Under Low Credit Alert, turn on Enable custom alert threshold and enter an Alert threshold (in credits). When your balance drops to that number or below, you get an email and an in-app banner: “Your credit balance is running low. Top up to avoid service interruptions.” Alerts for the same condition repeat at most once every 24 hours.
Without a custom threshold you still get an email when credits drop below 10% of your monthly plan value, but no banner.
Workspace credit limit#
On the same tab, Workspace Credit Limit caps what this workspace can spend. When it is reached, credit use is blocked until the next billing period. The limit cannot exceed your monthly allowance. Only Owner and Admin see this control, and the server accepts a limit only on the Premium and Enterprise plans.
Auto-recharge#
Auto-Recharge Credits adds credits automatically when the balance falls below a Trigger threshold. Set a Recharge amount of at least 100 credits. It needs a paid plan with a payment method on file and is available on Pro, Premium and Enterprise. If a recharge payment fails, auto-recharge switches itself off so you can update your card and turn it back on.
Running out
With no credits left, agents cannot run and changes cannot be saved. See out of credits for what you can still do and how to recover.
