Questions and answers

Write question and answer pairs, add alternative phrasings, and import many at once from a CSV file.

A Q&A entry is an answer you wrote yourself, tied to the question it answers. Use it when the wording must be exact, such as prices, policies or opening hours, and a document might only come close. Open Knowledge sources → Questions & Answers.

Primary and alternative questions#

Each entry has one Primary question, one Answer and any number of Question alternatives. The alternatives are other ways people ask the same thing. They share the primary question’s answer. The table labels them Primary and Secondary.

Deleting a primary question also deletes its alternative questions. The confirmation lists them first.

Add an entry#

  1. Open the form

Click Add Question. The dialog is titled Add new Question.

  2. Write the question

Enter the primary question. Under Question alternatives, add other phrasings.

  3. Write the answer

Type the answer in the editor.

  4. Choose a category

Pick a category. Alternatives follow their primary question’s category.

  5. Save

Click Add Questions. The entry is indexed in the background, and its status moves from New to Indexed.

No HTML or links in answers

For security reasons, an answer cannot contain HTML or links. When you import a CSV, FlowHunt strips them and tells you how many entries it changed, and in which fields.

Import from a CSV file#

Click Import Questions, choose a .csv file and click Import Questions. The dialog has a Sample CSV file link you can download and fill in.

The first row must be a header. These columns are required:

  • primary question
  • answer
  • category

Add alternative phrasings in extra columns after them: secondary question 1, then secondary question 2, and so on, up to 10 per row. If a row has more than 10, the import is refused.

The category column uses a category name. If no category with that name exists, FlowHunt creates it. When the import finishes, a results dialog shows how many entries were attempted, successful and failed, with a reason for each failed row.

Find and edit#

Search by question or by answer, and filter by question type, status and category. Open an entry to see its Related answer and alternatives, then click Edit Question to change it.

How agents use entries#

Q&A entries are indexed alongside your documents and crawled pages. The Document Retriever finds them in the same search, and when a Q&A entry and a document both match, the Q&A entry is preferred. To limit a retriever to Q&A, put them in their own category and select that category in the step.

Limits

Your plan caps how many Q&A entries a workspace can hold, and indexing each entry uses credits. See Plans and limits.
